We're proud that once again we have the pleasure to organize the most star-studded indoor athletic meeting in Poland. Great champions will come to Arena Toruń, so liked by the athletes - says Krzysztof Wolsztyński, president of the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Athletic Association and the general director of the Orlen Copernicus Cup Toruń 2022.

In Toruń, among others, we will see at least seven medalists of the last Olympics in Tokyo - Iga Baumgart-Witan and Natalia Kaczmarek (400m), Roneisha McGregor (Jamaica, 400m), Megan Tapper (Jamaica, 60mH), Selemon Barega (Ethiopia, 3000m), Lamecha Girma (Ethiopia, 3000m) and Thiago Braz (Brazil, pole vault).

- We are also very happy to welcome the heroes of last year's European Athletics Indoor Championships, which we organized in Toruń - adds Wolsztyński. The Orlen Copernicus Cup 2022 will host, inter alia, gold medalists like Ajla Del Ponte (Switzerland, 60m), Maryna Bekh-Romanchuk (Ukraine, long jump), Wilhem Belocian (France, 60mH) and Tomas Stanek (Czech Republic, shot put). There will also be other medalists of the Toruń's championships - Lotta Kemppinen (Finland, 60m), Khaddi Sagnia (Sweden, long jump), Marcin Lewandowski (Poland, 800m), Michał Haratyk (Poland, shot put), Valentin Lavillenie (France, pole vault) and Filip Mihaljević (Croatia, shot put).

- And this is not the end of the stars, because it is also worth mentioning the Olympic vice-champion from Rio, hurdler Orlando Ortega, Adam Kszczot and the meeting record-holder of the 800m, Elliot Giles. We will also see our Piotr Lisek in the pole vault - says the director of the Orlen Copernicus Cup Toruń 2022.

The top Polish hurdler, Damian Czykier, present at the Friday press conference, is glad that he will be able to start on February 22 in Toruń. - Orlen Copernicus Cup is our best meeting and I like to start here very much. I'm looking forward to it - he says. The organization of the competition is supported by PKN ORLEN, the city of Toruń and the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Voivodeship.

The heads of the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Athletic Association and the government of the city of Toruń and the voivodeship do not hide that their dream is to organize the World Athletics Indoor Championships in Toruń. Toruń is trying to organize this event in 2026. - I believe that after the success of the last European Athletics Indoor Championships, we have a good chance of that. It is no coincidence that the president of World Athletics, Sebastian Coe, often repeats that it was in Toruń that we started the way of organizing such great events in a pandemic - adds Wolsztyński.

- Yes, this World Athletics Indoor Championships is our great dream. I hope that it will come true, because we have shown many times that we can organize events at the highest level - says Marcin Drogorób, director of the Department of Sport and Tourism of the Marshal's Office of the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship.

- That's why we decided a few years ago to build such a facility to host the best athletes in the world - adds Zbigniew Fiderewicz, vice-president of the city.

This year's World Athletics Indoor Tour Gold includes seven meetings. On January 28, the series begins in Karlsruhe, Germany, and ends on March 2 in Madrid, Spain.
